Chinese hawthorn: a plant source of vitamin C

Chinese hawthorn (Crataegus pinnatifida) is included in Bitter as a plant extract. It is a natural source of vitamin C, which contributes to the normal function of the immune system and helps protect cells from oxidative stress. Hawthorn also gives the elixir its distinctive botanical character.

Clove: a spice made from dried flower buds

Clove is known for its rich, warming aroma. It comes from the dried, unopened flower buds of the clove tree (Syzygium aromaticum). In Bitter, it is used as an extract, bringing a full, spicy flavour that complements the other botanical ingredients.

Ceylon cinnamon: a fragrant bark extract

Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) comes from the bark of the cinnamon tree. Its warm, spicy aroma balances the bold flavour of clove and the characteristic bitterness of hawthorn. Together, these botanical extracts give Bitter its distinctive flavour profile.
